It is important to contact us as quickly as possible after a loss. Although there will be some inconvenience on your part to get estimates and cooperate with the insurance company adjusters, we will do our best to make the process as painless as possible. Most companies have a goal of 24 hr contact after first notification of a loss.

You may consider the following tips depending on the type of claim you are facing:
Auto or Motorcycle Accident
In almost all cases, the police should be called. This helps prevent people from leaving the scene and gives you an idependent description of the accident. In a “he said, she said” situation, without a police report, the insurance company is very handicapped in their claims investigation. Do not leave the scene until they have released all involved.
- Take the names and numbers of any witnesses.
- If you have a camera, take pictures.
- Report to us or directly to the company after hours as soon as possible.
- Collision with a deer or other animal
- Do not clean the car until your claims representative has seen the damage. A collision with an animal is paid differently than collision with anything else.
- You can begin getting estimates if the vehicle is driveable, but do not authorize work to begin until your claims adjuster has approved coverage.
- Contact us immediately.
Windshield Claim
Contact our office for confirmation of coverage and for the 800# for glass claims. You can always go to the shop of your choice, but our companies do have agreements with certain shops that have warranties on their work.
Hit and Run Accident
It is very important to report this to the police as soon as possible, but definitely within 48 hours to prevent your policy from being effected negatively.
Call us immediately as well.
Theft
Report all thefts to the police immediately and contact us.
Property Loss such as home, rental property, commercial property
One of the duties after a loss is to prevent further damage to covered property. For example, turn off the water main (if water loss), cover or remove property from the elements, begin cleaning up damage if practicably possible. Of course if you are faced with a fire loss, get to safety immediately, call the fire department and wait for further instruction from the authorities.
- Contact us as soon as is practical.
- Take pictures, note times, keep track of your expenses and your efforts and keep receipts.
Workers Compensation
Seek immediate medical attention and follow the guidelines in your policy package with respect to contacting the company and the Industrial Commission. Contact us as well.
Liability Claim
If you have caused bodily injury or property damage to another, or have been accused of doing so, contact us immediately. If you have been served suit papers, contact us immediately. Delays could hinder the investigation. If your coverage is active and according to the terms of the policy, the company is required to defend you in a lawsuit.
It is important not to discuss details with anyone or say anything that would interfere with your company’s investigation – this could adversely effect your coverage.
